GRSM (First Class Honours) from The Royal College of Music, London, ARCM, LRSM, LTCL (piano and violin performing), ATCL.
A recipient of the prestigious Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Scholarship, her studies at the Royal College of Music, London was marked by many international awards and prizes. She has taught piano and music theory since 1980, and has conducted piano masterclasses internationally for the British Council and adjudicated in Eisteddfods. On the international concert platform she is an experienced recitalist, piano soloist and chamber musician, and her career path has been marked by outstanding critical reviews. Although classically trained, she plays pop and jazz music by ear with ease. Reflecting her performing background, she demonstrates and performs to her students regularly, thereby spurring them on to musical excellence.
She has a keen interest in music education and her aim is to always engage the student in learning music no matter what level he or she is at.
She teaches adults who simply want to learn piano for leisure.
She prepares students for school exams and the Australian Music Examinations Board syllabus [Grades 3-8 and Diploma exams (Performing and Teaching Diplomas)]. Moreover she also prepares students for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music syllabus [Grades 3-8 exams and Diploma exams (Performing and Teaching Diplomas)].
Lessons are individually tailored to suit the level appropriate for a particular student. An advanced performing student gets a totally different type of lesson and approach compared to a teacher studying for a teaching diploma; a Grade 6 student gets tuition appropriate for that level whereas a total beginner is taught the very basics and there would be no assumptions or expectations of that student achieving more than he or she can at that particular juncture.
She is an Accredited Teaching Member of West Australian Music Teachers’ Association (WAMTA) and has a Current Working With Children Check.
