I’ve been playing piano from a young age where I started learning the Suzuki Method and transitioned to the Classical stream of AMEB. Since then I’ve extended out into jazz and contemporary idioms in my own music making and various ensembles. As a teacher, I’ve prepared students for whatever they’re involved in, whether that be their own ensembles, performances or AMEB exams.

Emily Bennett is both a Charles Sturt University Theatre/Media (2008) and Australian National University School of Music (2012) grad, where she was taught and mentored by acclaimed Australian jazz vocalists Vince Jones, Rachael Thoms and Canadian jazz guitarist/vocalist, Dawn Thompson. More recently she’s worked with improvising powerhouses Michelle Nicolle and Carolyn Connors in Melbourne.

Emily has played in various ensembles as a vocalist, keys and accordion player and to date worked as a sound artist and composer for young people, choreographers, podcast producers and theatre makers alike; utilising project-specific samples, field recordings, experimental instrumentation, electronic sound design and vocal improvisation. She’s performed for the Liquid Architecture, Divinyls tribute album, ‘Re-Worked’, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Melbourne Jazz Vocal Sessions and as a guest vocalist in the world music ensemble, Orkeztra Glasso Bashalde and Nyash! Afrobeat collective.

Emily has completed Estill Method training in Levels 1 and 2 and teaches at Fitzroy High School, at the Bianca Fenn School of Music in Greensborough and privately from her home studio in Preston.
