Piano Lessons

During my years of teaching I have come across students that have had group lessons or lessons with under-qualified teachers. Whilst these may be cheaper options, these students often lack proper technique, especially music-reading skills. They are also far behind where they should be for the amount of time that they have been learning, meaning that money saved is often time wasted. It also takes considerable time to re-learn these bad habits.

Lessons consist of technical work and pieces, theory, aural work, sight-reading and music general knowledge as fundamentals and music history, composition, preparation for examinations, eisteddfods or other performances and other skills development upon request.

I am supervised and trained by Louise Helfgott and charge $28 for a half-hour lesson and $56 for one hour.

Lessons either at your own home or mine.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information.

Aaron Tuckey

About me:

My name is Aaron and I have been playing music for as long as I can remember. I began learning piano at age five and during my teenage years I began composing and took up guitar, singing and songwriting.

I have studied music at UWA for two years, during which time I was awarded the University Choral Society Prize for Music for being the highest achieving student in renaissance and baroque music history and music in world cultures.

I have been teaching piano since 2011 and currently perform as a solo singer/songwriter.

About the lessons:

My philosophy is that students learn best when lessons are fun and enjoyable. I cater to students’ needs, be that to prepare students for examinations in classical music, to learn their favourite contemporary pop song or anything in between. I have experience teaching students of all ages and at all levels.

Additional prizes:
Won first prize in the Australian Children’s Music Foundation National Songwriting Competition Best Instrumental – Classical category
Original composition ‘gargeagre’ performed at the Western Australian State Theatre Centre for TURA New Music – Breaking Out Concert and recorded and broadcast by ABC Classic fm
