Harp and Piano Lessons – Brisbane

Bart Seaton

Bart, a former chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral, London, took ABRSM grade 8 qualifications in piano, cello and singing in 1991 achieving Distinctions. In 2011 he was awarded entry to major in harp performance at the Queensland Conservatorium. He received a High Distinction in Harp Pedagogy in 2012, and has taught harp and piano since, preparing students for AMEB harp and piano exams or according to students’ own levels of aspiriation. In 2014 Bart was awarded the Robert S. Alva Memorial Award at Queensland Consevatorium, awarded to the student with the best overall results in the third year of Bachelor of Music (Instrumental or Composition). He graduated with first class honours in 2015. His philosophy of teaching music is so students will be human, will recognise beauty, will be sensitive, closer to an infinite beyond this world, will have something to cling to, will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more fun, more good, and in short, more life. He introduces harp as ‘an instrument of peace’ and lays particular emphasis on the harp as a tool of transformation for those who play and hear this ancient and rather rare instrument.
