Piano Lessons

I give piano lessons in a fun and friendly environment in my home studio. Lessons are given on my british made Knight piano, which is in very good condition.

I like to incorporate many different styles of music into my student’s education to give them a broad perspective on music. I teach my students to read music to a high standard but also encourage them to explore improvisation and writing their own music.

I have a valid Victorian Working With Children Check.

Christopher de Groot

I am a musician and composer originally from Perth Western Australia now based in Melbourne. I’m primarily a pianist, having obtained my undergraduate degree specialising in jazz music from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).

In addition to my undergraduate degree I have an Honours degree and Masters degree in music composition.

I have been teaching piano students of all ages since 2005 and have taken several students through AMEB performance and theory exams and given lessons for leisure. I have also been a lecturer in composition at WAAPA from 2008 – 2012 giving lectures on Australian music history, film music history, composing music for film, research methodologies, song writing as well as tutoring composition students one-on-one.

I have a keen interest in film music having composed 16 short film scores and four feature length scores. I also have an interest in electronics and music incorporating improvisation.
