Claudia Rapisarda

Biography:

Claudia has had an interest in the creative arts from a young age. Piano and voice became her passion as she continued her musical journey. Aged 16, Claudia was accepted into the State’s only specialist music secondary school: The Sydney Conservatorium High School. At this stage, Claudia also discovered a love for composition, and was placed under the instruction of Dr. Trevor Pearce.

During her time at the Conservatorium High School, Claudia performed for, was adjudicated and conducted by Carl Vine, George Palmer and Dr. Carolyn Watson. She has participated and received awards in the Sydney Eisteddfod and the Carlsbad Music Festival. Claudia has also been involved in a number of master-classes, most notably with the German vocal quintet- AMARCORD.

Claudia has performed with The NSW Public School Singers, School Spectacular Central Choir (2010), The Sydney Philharmonia Choirs (2011), and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (2011) alongside American voice actor John De Lancie, soprano Elizabeth Scott and under the baton of conductor and pianist Vladimir Ashkenazy. She has been on stage with UK Pianist Kerry Yong, Sydney Symphony’s Associate Concert Master Kirsten Williams and Australian soprano Jacqueline Porter. Her compositions have also been broadcasted on Fine Music 2MBS FM, as a part of their Young Virtuosi program (2013, 2014 and 2016), Sydney Eisteddfod programs (2013) and through the Elizabethans Trust’s “Academy of Chamber Music” aired performances (2014).

An active musician, Claudia has performed in numerous performance venues including the Sydney Opera House, The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, The Independent Theatre and the Seymour Theatre. In 2013, she was involved in the Elizabethans Trust’s “Academy of Chamber Music”, which was founded and directed by Kirsten Williams and Kathryn Selby.

In 2015 Carl Vine began to refer students to Claudia for private studies in Instrumentation and Orchestration. Claudia also began scoring a film, which is currently in the Top Five Directors Pick, and has been nominated for ‘Best Original Score’ at The Idyllwild International Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Claudia is in her 3rd year of a Bachelor of Music Composition degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She continues her studies to be an active composer, artistic director and chamber musician.
