Cristian David Contreras

International pianist, composer, producer and vocal coach Cristian Contreras has 17 years of performance experience and 11 years of musical education under his fingers. He teaches piano, guitar and voice as well as the following musical subjects: Theory, Composition, Improvisation, Arranging, Producing, Recording, Digital Music Technology, History, Transcribing, Aural Skills Development and Latin Rhythms.

His performance styles cover virtually ANY type of music, however he specializes in Jazz, Classical, Contemporary and Latin American Music. Lessons are tailored to suit the students individual needs and his view in life is that it’s never too early or too late to start learning the art of music.

At the tender age of 17 Cristian had already graduated from high school and moved out of home into Sydney, where he had been accepted at the Australian Institute of Music. Over the next 4 years he further developed his skills as a pianist, composer, arranger and producer under the guidanceof mentors such as Tim Bruer, Dan Wallace, Jaimie Rigg, Armandito and Greg White. His education there led to various recording and producing opportunities at both S.A.E and Q Studios. Cristian has performed locally and internationally at numerous venues including Sydney’s Seymour Center, Star City Casino, The Basement, Mid North Coast Entertainment Center, the Australian Institute of Music and at the 2008 Melbournefood and wine festival with international vocalist Silvie Boisel.

After years of relentless practice and dedication, his performance style has encompassed the Jazz, Latin American, Classical and Contemporary genres of music. In 2010 he graduated from the Australian Institute of Music with a Bachelor degree in contemporary performance and a Master of muisc degree in composition and music production.

After almost 3 years traveling through South East Asia, Europe and South America, Cristian finally returns home for his Australia album release – Intervals and Time. He has also resumed his teaching and is currently accepting new students!
