Jess’ passion for piano began at a young age and has continued to be a major focus of her life, completing all eight AMEB piano examinations and up to grade 6 Music Theory. After completing her Bachelor of Music Studies Degree (majoring in classical piano) from the Elder Conservatorium of Music, Adelaide University she then continued on to obtain her Master of Music Therapy from the University of Queensland to utilise her passion for music to help others. Her studies in piano and extensive experience make her an ideal piano or music theory tutor.

Jess currently offers on-site and off-site piano tuition and also music theory tuition, both up to grade five AMEB level. She has a beautiful Kawai concert upright piano in her home music studio and can travel to you within 30km of Griffin.

Piano and Music Theory tuition rates are as follows:

30min – $30
45min – $40
60min – $55

You may choose to pay upfront for a 10 week term and save yourself $50! (Applicable to all lesson times) Additionally a 20min free trial is available to meet Jess and see if you would like to further your music studies with her!

Developmental Music Therapy: Jessica Blackstone

Developmental Music Therapy refers to Music Therapy techniques aimed specifically at an individuals’ development. Music Therapy is a worldwide allied health profession and is the planned use of music to promote health and wellbeing. Specific techniques and interventions are applied to address the needs and goals of clients. Interventions include song-writing, song-singing, instrument playing, improvisation, music and movement and music relaxation. Music Therapists use music primarily for achieving non-musical goals, as opposed to music educators who specialise in students’ acquisition of musical skills and knowledge.
