Eugene Marshall - Piano Teacher

I have been teaching piano for over twelve years, including at a private school where I was teaching up to 40 students a week. Some of my students have taken graded exams and have a 100% pass rate to date. Most importantly, I am deeply passionate about teaching and enjoy what I do.

Recently I completed my Masters degree from the Royal College of Music in London, during which time I was also teaching.

My fee is slightly higher than most piano teachers on Gumtree at $55 per hour, and this reflects my expertise and experience. Teaching music is a different skill to playing it, and I have taught widely and worked out how to keep my students engaged and satisfied with their progress, whatever their abilities. I understand music’s effect on a child’s intellectual and emotional development, and on the other end of the spectrum I’ve helped retirees keep their minds energised and active.

My lessons are well planned in consultation with my clients and their goals, and well resourced with a large selection of music, and recording and playback equipment for monitoring. I have a second piano in my studio so that my students can be accompanied and better supported as they play, and I write lesson notes so that everything we have covered in the lesson can be reviewed in practise.

I also believe in a holistic approach to music-making, and with their piano technique my students also learn music theory and wider listening skills. With children I encourage moving along to music and singing as well, as this supports their piano performance.

RATES:
Standard – $65 (1 hour)
Students/Seniors – $55 (1 hour)
Children – $35 (30 minutes)
45-minute lessons – $50
Groups (2 or 3) – Negotiable

Home visits can be arranged for Southwestern suburbs at an extra $10, but I recommend lessons in my own Kenwick studio as it is fully equipped.

Eugene Marshall

I am 28 years old and have been teaching piano for 12 years. As well as being a passionate teacher I compose music for concert and film.

I am recently returned to Australia after living in London for the last four years, where I studied and worked at the Royal College of Music.
