With over thirty years experience teaching piano, Gabriella has developed a special method, individually tailored to each student and what they would like to achieve. This method allows the students to enjoy playing the piano, by cultivating the crucial skills of awareness and independent learning, making her method truly unique.

From the beginning, students are taught the basic musical concepts. Emphasis is based on teaching students how to read music well, by developing their aural perception and rhythmic feeling. The importance of this technique is based on developing the musician within, rather than teaching students how to play the piano.

Gabriella’s expertise and patient guidance has allowed her students to achieve great success in their exams and competitions over the years. Wether students are beginners or advanced, these lessons are a weekly experience that every student will enjoy.

Gabriella Pekanovic

Gabriella Pekanovic completed a Bachelor of Music (Majoring in Piano) in 1983 and a Bachelor of Music (Majoring in Conducting) in 1984, at the University of Arts, Belgrade.

Between 1981 and 1991, Gabriella taught piano at the Subotica Music School in Serbia. In addition to teaching, Gabriella also worked as an accompanist and prepared her students for exams and competitions.

After relocating to Australia, Gabriella gained accreditation as a piano teacher with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She continued teaching piano and musicianship to primary and high school students.

In 1997, Gabriella undertook further studies, completing a Graduate Diploma in Education at The University of Western Sydney. After completing her studies, she became a member of the NSW Teachers Federation.

Between 2000-2004, she taught music at Patrician Brothers College, where she prepared students for HSC exams. Since 2004, Gabriella has also worked at Rosebank College, Domremy College and Saint Ursula’s College Kingsgrove, teaching music to secondary school students.

With over thirty years of extensive piano teaching experience, Gabriella is also successfully preparing students for all levels of AMEB exams and competitions.
