My style of teaching does not follow a fixed method. Rather I prefer to mould my approach to the particular needs and wishes of the student, whether it be completing grades or playing piano for personal fulfilment or creative expression. I try to draw music out of each individual student by discovering what they want to play and what their particular abilities are. I like to move through a wide range of repertoire and develop skills in music reading, memorisation and improvisation. I use a piano technique which is weight and relaxation based. As a composer and performer I also encourage my students to explore the many varied ways one can express themselves creatively through music.

I teach at a studio in Sydney CBD or I can come to your house if you live in areas surrounding Manly or Balgowlah.

Having grown up in a family of professional musicians, my training as a pianist began at the age of four. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 2001 with distinction, I have been privately teaching piano of all levels, while also pursuing a passion for composition, in particular music composed for the screen, completing a Masters in Composition from AFTRS in 2007. Since then I have worked as a pianist, teacher and composer and established the businesses, Geri Green Music, through which I teach piano, music theory and composition, and Studio Ripple, through which I compose music for film and television projects. I am also an experienced orchestrator and music copyist and have worked on several prominent feature films in recent years.
