Situated in this beautiful church the lessons are held in a great acoustic space where you play a beautiful Richard Lipp Grand Piano. Organ with leslie speaker is available to play as well for a bit of fun.
I am a professional performer piano/vocals who has collaborated with such artists and organisations such as the MSO, ACO, Victorian Opera, as well as worked with Harry James Angus (Cat Empire), Martin Martini, Kram (Spiderbait), Bamboos, Dumb Ways To Die Advertising Campaign, Jazz Party, Woody’s World, Olivia Chindamo, Nichaud Fitzgibbon, Daniel Merriweather, Illy, Pez, The Melodics and of course my solo project Hue Blanes

BIO
Born in Melbourne in 1984 Hue Blanes has played piano and sung for over 20 years. He grew up in the small country town of Healesville, Victoria where he began his musical life playing in local fetes, concerts and festivals.
He received a scholarship to study at the Victorian College of The Arts Secondary School and subsequently went to Monash University where he received a Bachelor of Music Performance and the prestigious Billy Hyde Music Prize for outstanding achievement.
His teachers have included Bob and Steven Sedergreen, Andrea Keller, Tim Stevens, Tony Gould and most recently with New York pianists Fred Hersch and Jason Moran.
He has played overseas in New Caledonia and New Zealand and at Australia’s leading music venues.
In Melbourne he has played at Bennett’s Lane Jazz Club, Dizzy’s Jazz Club, Hamer Hall and The Melbourne Recital Centre. Hue has worked with Jazz Singer Nichaud Fitzgibbon, Saxophonist Rob Burke, Singer/Songwriter Harry Angus and Australian Jazz Legend Ted Vining.
Hue is an experienced vocalist having sung with New York jazz vocalist Mark Murphy, and in original music groups including triple JJJ favourites The Melodics for 7 years. Hue has won many eisteddfods on Vocals including The Booroondara and Moorabbin events in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
In 2012 Hue worked with Harry Angus from “The Cat Empire” on the music for ABC’s feature film “Jack Irish” starring Guy Pierce. He has worked on music for Miss Ficher’s Murder Mysteries on the ABC also.

Also in in 2012 Hue was musical director of “The New Black” a musical which had three showings at the Victorian Arts Centre, directed by Stephen Lloyd Helper. Later last year Hue was Musical Director for the “Lovebirds” and completed a sellout season at the Darwin Festival.

This year in 2014, Hue has completed his second album “Sad Songs Make Me Happy” and it is now out through pound records.
Recently Hue featured on the Illy track ‘Cigarettes’ that finished 35th in Triple J’s hottest 100.

Lessons will be conducted in a positive environment and practice with an eye to performance is encouraged.
