Southside Central Piano Teaching

I offer a focussed, friendly and comprehensive piano tuition service to students in the central-south Brisbane area.

I hold my BMus in Classical Piano, AMusA in Piano and GradCert in Composition and and am currently undertaking a Masters at QLD Conservatorium. I have given numerous recitals within QLD Conservatoirum, publicly and privately and have performed at the Sunshine Coast University and as soloist with Queensland Philharmonia Orchestra. I received an award in the 2015 Sydney Eisteddfod for Composition as well as the Griffith University award for Academic Excellence in 2015.

I have been teaching privately for a number of years now, and tailor my teaching approach to the needs and abilities of each individual student, allowing them to develop skills at a comfortable pace and in a supportive environment. I have had much experience going through the AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) from beginner to advanced level examinations (both as candidate and enroller) and specialise in preparing students for these exams and in the classical piano repertory. However, I am also very comfortable simply working with students to develop their playing skills and general musical ability in line with their personal goals and own musical interests.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

1. The most important pre-requisite for in-home tuition is that the student have a keyboard or piano at their disposal. Lessons cannot take place without one.

2. My tuition service hinges on the fact that I offer lessons to students in their own homes. Due to the nature of this service, I only offer it within an approximate 6 km radius of Highgate Hill.
From as far north as Teneriffe & Fortitude Valley.
As far west as Toowong & Taringa.
As far south as Moorooka & Tarragindi.
As far east as Norman Park & West Coorparoo.
This is so I can maintain economic travel times between a more localised number of students. For potential students that are on the fringe of these regions, just ask about your specific location, as in some cases, scheduling may allow me to get to you.

3. I’m currently only taking on students ABOVE 6 years of age and who are not immediate beginners. (have had AT LEAST 6 months of lessons) This is due to already having filled my teaching quota of very young, complete beginner students, as their often shorter lesson times place a certain limit on my ability to take on more students.

I’ve been working the Brisbane music scene as a performer, composer and teacher for a number of years, having recently completed my Graduate Diploma in composition from QLD Conservatorium. I’m currently completing my Masters at the same institution.

I’ve grown to love teaching, and promote my business in that field strongly. I also have begun to undertake a number of music transcription jobs commissioned by staff and students alike at my university. I’ve been doing this for approximately 2 years.
