I am an award-winning piano teacher, located in Hurstville, NSW.

I have been teaching at all levels for the past twenty years. In 2009, I was awarded the AMEB shield for having received the highest student results in the state.

My approach to teaching is very nurturing. I seek to draw on the strengths of my students whilst actively working on helping them overcome their weaknesses.

The three key areas I focus on in my teaching are developing technique, listening skills and musicality. My approach to teaching technique is quite unique, and my students are noted for their technique, attention to detail and musical playing.

Every student is an individual, and brings their own unique personality to their piano playing. My job, as I see it, is to equip them with the necessary skills to be able to perform with confidence and to let their own personalities shine through.

I am also the author of the newly released series of technical work books titled Scales – the Purrfect Practice.

Hi, my name is Jackie Sharp. I am a Sydney based piano teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching piano and music theory at all levels.
In 2009, I was awarded the AMEB Shield for having achieved the highest student results in the state of NSW in AMEB examinations.
My philosophy of teaching is to work with my students and their families as a team to produce the best possible outcome for each student. This includes developing technical and artistic skills, building confidence and a deep love of music, and teaching students to become independent thinkers by encouraging problem solving skills, thinking outside of the the box, and allowing each student’s individuality to shine.
As the author of a growing number of Piano Pedagogy books, which you can find at www.purrfectpractice.com.au, I have a strong interest in developing Piano Technique and Artistry in my students, along with a solid foundation of strong Sight Reading skills and thorough understanding of musical concepts.
