Piano Lessons
Learn to play the kind of music you want to play, whether it be pop, classical, jazz or something else altogether. I have a studied a range of piano education methods and performance styles and have taken the best parts of these, as well as some of my own material, to develop a skills-based program that tries to make learning music an enjoyable, fulfilling experience. There is flexibility within the program to tailor the material to each student, what music they like, how they learn and what they want to get out of the lessons, but usually involves developing a strong repertoire and learning about music theory, harmony and improvising, with the goal of becoming a skilled, versatile musician.
I have ten years experience teaching piano and have performed internationally and nation-wide. I have studied a range of different methods and programs. I have studied all styles of music and use the benefits of these in the songs you want to learn. I also hold a current working with children card and police check.

Biography
Hailing from country Victoria, mild-mannered Julian Foord is a dynamic, young, improvising pianist with a distinct style and flavour. Studying under jazz master Doug McKenzie, he completed the jazz course at the Gordon Institute in Geelong, winning the award for most outstanding student in both of his two years there. After a year of further tutelage with Melbourne pianist Tim Stevens, he moved to Perth to study at WAAPA, going straight into the second year of the course where he was under the guidance of some of Australia’s greatest musicians, such as Jamie Oehlers, Mat Jodrell and Russell Holmes. He graduated in 2008 and appeared regularly on Perth’s music scene, also performing interstate and internationally and in 2009 had a residency with Bulgarian vocalist Galina Bratanova at the world-famous Burj Al Arab in Dubai. In 2010 Julian moved to Melbourne where he is now in high demand as an accompanist, teacher and solo performer. When he isn’t working as a sideman, Julian can be found performing his original compositions in solo or trio format. His music is drawn from a variety of influences including classical, jazz, latin, funk and gospel.
