Do you LOVE music? Piano is a great choice, as you not only play the melody, but also the harmony.

I started classical piano at the age of 4 and gained my A.Mus.A in 1990. After a break of many years, I spent a year re-learning and refining classical technique with Graham Williams. I then studied Jazz Performance with Mark Ferguson at the Elder Conservatorium, but kept up my classical skills with Diana Weekes.

In 2012, I accompanied Classical Voice students of Patrick Power at the Elder Conservatorium, Young Adelaide Voices Junior Choir, and AMEB examination candidates. Previously, I have also enjoyed playing in church, in jazz ensembles, large and small, in musical theatre and a rock/metal fusion band. One highlight was playing in a grand piano duo for the Adelaide Fringe (Side By Side By Sondheim).

For children, my aim is to produce well-rounded musicians who can both read well and play by ear, as well as providing the best basis for impeccable technique. Music theory and harmonic concepts are introduced early. Exams are optional.

For adults, I would like to help you achieve your musical goals by coaching you in your perceived area of weakness, whether that be piano technique, reading notes, sight-reading, playing from a chord chart, sounding hip (modern styles), sounding beautiful (classical and ballad styles) or improvising.

I am constantly seeking opportunities for professional development and continue to improve my skills my taking lessons from university level teachers. I pass this knowledge directly on to my students.
