Kristina has been teaching piano since 1991 and has successfully prepared students for AMEB exams right through to Diploma level, and for tertiary entrance.

Teaching Piano, Voice and Theory in Kelvin Grove. Kristina is highly regarded as both an educator and clinician. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the Queensland University of Technology where she studied Piano with Betty Vergara-Pink and Max Olding, a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Education from the University of Queensland, a Master of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music (specialising in Jazz Voice and Choral Studies) and she is currently completing her PHD in music education innovation. Kristina currently teaches music at the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries and teaches jazz and contemporary voice, conducting and arranging, and musicianship at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She was also awarded her Associate Diploma (A.MusA) in pianoforte in 1994.

Kristina also runs her own private studio where she has been teaching both voice and piano from beginner level to diploma since 1992. She has successfully prepared students for entry into university in both piano and contemporary voice and has had several students attain their A.MusA in Piano. In 2011 Kristina was awarded a QCT (Queensland College of Teachers) award for excellence in teaching, and was nominated for the Australian Excellence in Music Teaching awards (ASME) in 2009 and 2011. She is a professional member of the Music Teachers Association of Queensland (MTAQ), Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing (ANATS), Australian Society for Music Education (ASME), the International Society for Music Education (ISME) and the Music Council of Australia (MCA).

Kristina is also a highly accomplished Choral director having directed some of Brisbane’s best performing High School Choral groups. Kristina’s choirs have won several local, state, national and international competitions and have toured internationally.
Kristina has performed with Don Burrows and his quartet, Tommy Tycho and the QLD Symphony Orchestra, Frank Bennett, and she has supported such artists as Tina Arena, James Morrison, Grace Knight, Marcia Hines and Glen Shorrock. Kristina has also appeared at various jazz festivals including Ambiwerra, Great Tropical Jazz Party, Manly Jazz Festival and the Queenstown Jazz Festival. She has also performed throughout Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States. Kristina released her first album in 2001, which was awarded a Sunnie Award in the Queensland Recording Industry awards, and her second album of original music featuring the Peter Walters Quartet will be released later this year.
