Piano and Violin Private Lessons

Hi there! My name is Maryellen and I am offering private piano and violin lessons at the convenience of your own home. I have attained a Master of Music and I have almost 5 years of solid teaching experience with first-timers to budding musicians of all ages.

My teaching goal is to help my students enjoy music by increasing their proficiency on their chosen musical instrument(s).

- Specialised in primary-age students, but have relevant experience to teach students of all age.

- Minimum of 45-minute lesson per travel. For younger students, this includes 30-min lesson and 15-min theory.

Currently teaching piano and violin in private and group settings in the area of Melbourne.

Having started playing the piano at the age of 5, I believe in early exposure to music for maximum capacity of enjoying and appreciating music. My pursuit of music education has led me to attaining a Master’s degree in Music in 2011 and started a Master’s degree in Music Education. I had the opportunity to study under leading piano pedagogues such as Dr. Maurice Hinson (author of “Guide to the Pianist’s Repertoire”) and Dr. Sandra Turner. My recent music teaching experience includes directing a Children Music Academy.

My special interests are in piano and violin pedagogy in classical tradition; sight-reading and sight-singing training/ beginner string ensemble.
