FIRST LESSON FREE - Piano

I have been playing piano for 17 years, and privately teaching for about 4 years. My background is in Suzuki, Canada’s Royal Conservatory of Music and AMEB. I am currently at ANU’s School of Music.

As a child, I used to love showing off! My ear would let me instantly convert any song I heard into a piano performance, play it blindfolded and improvise it in any style. But I quickly began to feel that it was a dumb party trick. What music professionals value is authenticity, accuracy and emotion. This is something that can be learned at any age and fostered through gentle, thorough and focused teaching.

That said, I still like to transcribe any song the student might like (theme songs, punk singles, etc.) into notes that can be played at their specific level, from beginner to advanced. Music should always be fun, no exceptions. My goal as a teacher isn’t just to watch students improve, but to have them enjoy themselves every step of the way.
