Jazz Piano/Improvisation Lessons: Music as a Language
My teaching philosophy is based on the premise of understanding music as a language,
whether its their own ideas, sight reading, recordings or and, have the facility to be able to play and express what they hear/read through the Piano. I have a bachelor of Music Degree from Monash University, and over 11 years experience in teaching students of all ages and levels (including beginners). My pedagogy draws on my experiences having studied with some of the world’s most renowned pianists and artists.
Lessons are tailored to the individual student, with clear structure designed to meet your individual goals and ambitions.
Choose from 30 minute, 45 minute or 60 minute lessons in your home or studio.
My approach embraces all styles.
I’m a jazz pianist, who can specialise in teaching harmony, repertoire, improvising, transcribing, arranging and composing.
I also teach classical repertoire, pop and modern styles.
I teach in many suburbs around the south eastern side of Melbourne. This includes (but is not limited to): Malvern, Armadale, Toorak, St Kilda, Brighton, South Yarra, Caulfield, Carnegie, McKinnon, Elwood, Elsternwick, Hawthorn, Camberwell, Albert Park, Richmond, Glen Iris, Kew and more.
I also offer lessons via Skype for students who are based outside of inner Melbourne.

Further Experience:
I have been teaching for over 9 years in private practice, schools and other institutions.
The above philosophy incorporates everything that I have found to be practical and conducive to yielding the best results from my experience as a student and teacher.
My process continues to progress as I develop and work more with students to help them achieve their goals.
I completed my Bachelor of Music in Jazz from Monash University in 2010, where I studied with leading musicians including Marc Hannaford, Tony Gould, Steve Sedergreen and Andrea Keller. I have also studied classical repertoire under the guidance of Dr Donna Coleman, Head of Keyboard at VCA, for 4 years. My approach encompasses elements from lessons taken overseas with leading New York jazz musicians.
I continue my musical studies I’m currently performing around Melbourne and have several years performing experience as a pianist locally and internationally (in a wide variety of settings). I compose for a variety of projects, including film.
