My objective as a teacher is to find a way to help students connect with music through a process of discovery that is explorative and creative while encouraging a solid musical foundation. My particular specialty is in jazz/improvisation, theory/aural skills, and composing/songwriting. I enjoy the creative side of music and endeavour to incorporate creative and fun exercises into my lessons. I’m happy to teach saxophone to students of all ages, levels, and styles, and piano to all ages at a beginner/intermediate level, or any level for jazz and improvisation. I have been teaching saxophone and piano since 2007 in primary and secondary schools and perform in various jazz and function bands. I have a B.Mus from Monash University (Graduated 2008) where I studied from Jamie Oehlers, Rob Burke, Julien Wilson, Tony Gould, and Sam Keevers. Prior to B.Mus I did VCE at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary school (2003-2004).
