Samuel Dharma, Concert Pianist

Individually Tailored Piano Study

Sam Dharma has taught piano for more than 10 years in Australia and overseas, including successful AMEB and Trinity diploma candidates as well as competition prizewinners. He aims to equip his students with the tools they need to become the next generation of artistic musicians and music lovers. He helps students build formidable piano technique (for example, minimising tension, ensuring correct postures and physical alignment, as well as understanding the uses of big and small muscles) and develop stylistic musical understanding in order to facilitate artistic playing.

Current students in Sam’s studio include enthusiastic and talented primary school students, as well as high school students preparing for competitions, diploma exams and the HSC. He also teaches university students and works with piano teachers wishing to expand their repertoire and upgrade their technical knowledge of the piano and piano playing. Adult students with a keen interest in playing the piano or wishing to resume music lessons after a long hiatus are also catered for in his studio.

Main studio is located in Cherrybrook, equipped with 2 grand pianos. Students have the opportunity to play in studio classes during school term holidays (except Christmas), masterclasses given by Australian pianists (diploma level students only), as well as perform at least once a year in public student recitals.

Due to limited vacancy in Cherrybrook, in this studio Sam will consider students who are at least of approximately grade 4 AMEB standard. Exceptions may be made for dedicated students who commit to regular daily practise.

Please contact to arrange a complimentary consultation to discuss your aims, goals and hopes and find out how I can be of assistance to you.

NEW
Since May 2016, Sam Dharma has also been teaching students at a music studio in Ryde. Currently there are vacancies in this studio.

Testimonial;
“My son, Aaron, is a talented student of piano, having reached AMEB Grade 8 by the age of nine. In no small way, Sam’s expertise as a piano teacher has contributed to this. Sam has taught Aaron for several years, guiding him with patience, kindness, sensitivity and determination, and imparting a deep appreciation of the beauty and subtleties of classical music as only a masterful musician could do. Aaron and I have enjoyed the comfort and hospitality of his immaculate studio, which is equipped with two grand pianos and a comfortable waiting area for parents, where we have also had the privilege of listening to Sam’s remarkable piano playing. Sam excels as a musician and as a teacher, and I have no doubt that students and their parents would be delighted with him and with the results he can achieve!” – Peter Mendes-Shineberg
