I run a warm and welcoming home studio where you can start your piano playing journey. We move at a pace that you are happy with, and from the first lesson you will be making beautiful music.

If you are a performer/singer or session musician, I can assist in training you with specific songs for auditions, performance or studio sessions. With over 17 years training in the Bella Canto method, I’ve trained rock singers, opera stars and performers in big musicals (Phantom, Starlight Express and Cats), Jazz Musos and more.

Sandy Bigara has performed professionally since 1995, in stage productions, and as a choral member of her Provincial / State Choir, touring South Africa and Europe for 9 years. She was in school choirs and sang lead roles in school productions from 1986 until 1998 as well. She is a trained composer and has composed over 40 classical pieces (“VIVAT” in the play list) and well over 150 modern / indie / pop songs since 1994. At the age of 16 her song Vuselela came 2nd in South Africa in the Pick n Pay Jingle Search (similar to Australia’s “Coles”)

From 2002 – 2005 Sandy trained as a Bella Canto singer (which suits every musical style), and completed her training by competing in 11 categories of music including aria antiche, folk, art song, lieder etc and won 10 out of the 11 categories with an average score of A+. She was awarded a floating trophy by the Societa Dante Alleghieri, backed by the Italian consulate – for excellence in the Aria Antiche category.

From 2002 – 2003 Sandy was Artistic Director of the Danville Girls High Choir, and then from 2004 – 2007 Sandy was Head of Music and Drama at two local schools in Durban, South Africa – Atholton Primary and St Henry’s Marist Brothers College. Sandy also ran a busy Music School from 1998 – 2014. In 2014 she released her classical album, followed in 2015 by her vintage blues album. She recently composed and recorded the complete Filmscore for an Independent Film company in Nashville.

Sandy has a strong following in South Africa both as a performer and Theatre director, and counts some of Durban’s finest performers as close friends.

Many of Sandy’s students have gone on to forge successful careers in the Arts.
