Clairice is offering private piano tutoring for ages 6 and up. This is an ideal opportunity for those who have always wanted to play the instrument, and for parents who would like to avoid the school tutoring system as it takes precious time out of the school day.
No prior musical knowledge is required.
Music is something that should be encouraged from the earliest age, but can also give great joy to those wishing to learn as a hobby later in life. There is never a bad time to start learning!!
Somerset Music Studio
Clairice Somerset is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, and has studied music for over 20 years. Clairice has over 7 years of private studio teaching experience as well as experience teaching instrumental lessons at various schools across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Whilst completing Masters and Bachelor qualifications Clairice received instrumental tuition from various internationally renowned artists and educators, some of which include; Robert Winn, Susan Milan, Gerhard Mallon, Michael Cox, Karen Lonsdale, Janet Webb and Lisa-Maree Amos.
Clairice Somerset is committed to ongoing professional development as a musician, performer and educator. Clairice has attended and participated int the following Masterclasses and Summer Schools: Oxford Flute Summer School; Charterhouse International Music Festival; Flute Section Workshops ‘Inside a Flute Section’ and ‘Inside a Flute Audition’ at the Australian Flute Festival; Flute Audition Success; ‘From Vienna to the Hunter’: An Orchestral Flute Course; Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute; Pan Pacific Music Camp; and masterclasses with Alexis Kenny, Michael Cox, Owe Grodd and Leone Buyse.
Through her extensive involvement in ensembles and concerts series, Mrs Somerset has gained valuable performance experience both nationally and internationally. Some of the most recent performances she has been involved in include: SQUIDS production of Miracle on 34th Street; Serenade in the Chapel Concert at the Charterhouse International Music Festival; Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra; Flutter Flute Quartet; Flute & Violin Duo; Solo recitals at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University; Guest Alumni Artist at Sheldon College’s Music Extension Concert; Queensland Youth Symphony; Queensland Youth Orchestra 2; Queensland Youth Wind Symphony; Soloist at the Redland Arts Council’s “Classics Close Up” Concert; Cleveland Symphony Orchestra (now known as Redland Sinfonia); Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute; and the Brisbane All Star Youth Big Band.
Competitions, Awards & Sholarships: Encounters Performance Scholarship III – Musical Meetings between Australia & China, Griffith University Short Term Travel Grant, Griffith Award for Academic Excellence, 4MBS Ross Peters Chamber Prize, James Carson Memorial Competition – Finalist (2009/2007), Australian Flute Festival’s Flute Ensemble Competition (2nd place as a member of Flutter Flute Quartet), Full Fees Scholarship to the Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute.
Clairice Somerset is a member of the Golden Key International Honours Society as well as an alumni of Sheldon College, Queensland Youth Orchestras, Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra and Griffith University.
