Piano lessons

My name is Wil New and I completed a Bachelor of Music degree at Wesley Institute in 2011. I have been playing piano for several years now and have recently been taught by David Pudney (of the Conservatorium of Music). My aim is to teach lessons that focus first on technique, but that are also fun and interesting – playing the piano should be enjoyable, not just hard work! I particularly enjoy teaching beginners and intermediate players who are inspired to play some good piano music.
Students are provided with study notes and tracks to play along with. I also have a strong background in music theory, so theoretical aspects of music are also covered in lessons.
Lessons are $30.00 per half hour or $55.00 per hour. The first lesson is free (try before you buy!) and subsequent lessons may be purchased in blocks of 5 or 10. If we miss a lesson, we can either make it up the following week or on another day that week that suits us both, whatever is mutually agreeable.

I have been playing saxophone, drums, bass guitar and piano for several years now and have recently had the privilege of being taught by Australian jazz maestro Adrian Cunningham (saxophone), country session player Sean Rudd (bass guitar) and Australian Idol drummer Gordon Rytmeister (drums). I particularly enjoy teaching beginners and intermediate players who are inspired to play some good music and learn more about their instrument.
I have my own home studio and am flexible with times for lessons. I also have a strong background in music theory and am happy to incorporate this into lessons if desired.
All students are given exercises and study notes to take home and work through. I’m also keen to hear what you like to listen to so you can learn songs that you’d love to play if you were up on stage with the jazz greats or the biggest rock groups around!
