Piano Lessons

I have undertaken examinations through the AMEB for almost 10 years. I offer Piano lessons to students of all levels and standards, from very beginners through to intermediate level students preparing for their AMEB (up to grade 6).
For those (including primary and secondary school students) who wish to begin learning the Piano, congratulations on choosing such a great instrument! You will be introduced to the basic concepts of music and Piano playing in general, with a special focus on developing a good tone and technique. You will also get the chance to play and experience a wide range of music in all styles. As your technique and musicality progresses, you will have the opportunity to take on more challenging repertoire.
More experienced players (particularly those progressing through AMEB Exams) can expect to focus on consolidating repertoire and technique, with attention given to technical work (including scales, arpeggios, thirds, etc.) musical interpretation, practise routines, and reaching the highest possible standard of performance. Areas of particular concern to the student (such as performance anxiety) will also be tackled.

Xavier Watson

Xavier Watson has participated in numerous ensembles and orchestras through organisations such as the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Youth Music, State Music Camp, Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and the Music Society of Victoria. He is a current member of The University of Melbourne Orchestra and Wind Symphonic Band.

In 2008 Xavier was awarded the Ellen Gudrun Kastan Music Scholarship for his musical development and strong involvement with the Robertson Youth Orchestra. This same year he also achieved his Associate of Music on the piano, Australia in 2008 on the piano and his AMEB grade 8 certificate on the clarinet. Xavier has participated in master classes and has enjoyed successes in various performances, recitals and competitions including his completion of VCE music performance in 2011. Xavier currently studies at The University of Melbourne.
